Cambridge Burnt Cream £4.95
Trinity College, Cambridge claims to have invented this dessert in the 1600s.
They named it 'Cambridge Burnt Cream' or 'Trinity Cream' and have a special
iron with the official college crest used to burn the sugar top.
Eton Mess £4.95
Eton School was founded by Henry VI in 1440 as a place to educate students
for King's College, Cambridge. This summery pudding is a mixture of
strawberries, crushed meringue and cream, traditionally served at Eton's annual
cricket game against the students of Winchester College.
Sherry Trifle £4.95
The earliest known use of the name 'trifle' was for a thick cream flavoured with
sugar, ginger and rosewater. The recipe was published in 1596 in a book called
'The Good Huswife's Jewell'. It wasn't until sixty years later that milk was
added and the custard was poured over alcohol soaked bread and fast became
a favourite of Cambridge dons.
