Situated just ten minutes walk from Oxford's centre, the Cotswold Lodge is a four-star hotel that houses an exquisite restaurant. The 66a Restaurant blends contemporary and period décor, retaining the original fireplace, high ceilings and bay windows and setting them off with impressive wood, brass fittings, deep carpets and smart upholstery. The menu offers modern interpretations of classic English and Mediterranean cuisine, using fresh ingredients - some of which are from the owner's farm. Why not try the loin of local lamb with roasted Provencal vegetables or queen scallops served with hazelnut and coriander butter? Desserts are equally sumptuous, including vanilla pannacotta with quince compote. At around £27 for a three course meal, this is fine dining at affordable prices.
